Tanghulu ( Chinese  糖葫蘆  /  糖葫芦 , Pinyin tánghúlú ), also called Bingtanghulu ( 冰 糖葫蘆  /  冰 糖葫芦 , bīngtáng húlú ), is a traditional Chinese candy made from candied fruit on a skewer.

Traditionally used the fruits of the Chinese hawthorn ( 山楂 , shānzhā ) for carding , but now are also Tanghulu in other variations such. B. strawberry , lotus plum , tangerine , grapes , pineapple , apple or the like. to be found.

In the past, Tanghulu street vendors were usually not met until winter in the cities, due to the harvest time of the hawthorn fruits. This traditional candy is still very popular today in the northern Chinese regions and cities such as Beijing , Tianjin and Shanghai . They are less common in southern China these days.
