The Tangmere Military Aviation Museum is located on the site of the former RAF Fighter Command Airfield Tangmere in West Sussex near the A27 and South Downs National Park . RAF Tangmere was in operation from 1918 to 1970, but Air Training Corps facilities were still on the field until 1975 .

Exhibits

The exhibits in the outdoor area each include a Lockheed T-33, Gloster Meteor F.8, de Havilland Vampire T.11, de Havilland Sea Vixen FAW.2, McDonnell Phantom FGR.2, BAe Sea Harrier and Westland Wessex. The Vampire T.11 XH313 is to be relocated to the hangar in order to be able to carry out restoration work there. A nose section of an Avro Lancaster of the Bomber Command is also on display. The record machines used by the RAF High Speed ​​Flight are the Meteor IV EE529 and the Hawker Hunter F.3 WB188, with which Neville Duke set a new speed record in September 1953.
