Thanit Jitnukun (alternative spelling Tanit Jitnukul or Thanit Chitnukun ; Thai : ธ นิตย์ จิต นุ กูล ; born November 24, 1956 in Songkhla Province , Thailand) is a Thai director , screenwriter and producer .

Life and accomplishments

Thanit graduated from Siam Vocational School and started his artistic career as a poster painter for film posters. His film career began in 1985 as a co-director with the feature film Suem Noi Noi Galon Mark Noi . He achieved his breakthrough and the associated international attention primarily through effective historical productions of Thai history, such as Bang Rajan - Battle of the Lost , Kunpan and Sema - The Warrior of Ayodhaya . These works often combined historical facts with a high degree of authenticity and powerful battle scenes, so that the international press compared, for example, Thanitt's Bang Rajan with Mel Gibson's Braveheart .

He also made films in the horror genre as well as crime novels and comedies.

Awards

For Bang Rajan: Battle of the Lost , he won the Thailand National Film Association Awards Best Director. The film was shown at the Canadian Fantasia Festival in 2000, where it secured second place in the International Film Contribution category.
