Dance with me in the morning is a German-language hit song in tango rhythm that was published in 1961 with Gerhard Wendland . The chorus begins with the catchy words May I ask for the tango at midnight .

With the lyrics written by Karl Götz and the music by Kurt Hertha , the record company Philips released the song under the number 345 317 PF with the reverse side I miss you so much in August 1961. The song became a number one hit in Germany. In the top 50 of the German music journal Musikmarkt , the title was listed for 46 weeks and was ranked first three times. In the year 1962 jukebox the youth magazine BRAVO came Dance with me in the morning in fifth place. In addition, the title was awarded the gold record . The hit also reached number one in the Dutch "Top 30 Music Express" and was in the charts there for more than a year. Dance with me in the mornings has been covered many times , including by Jimmy Wegland . Hugo Egon Balder recorded a version in the style of Neue Deutsche Welle in 1983 .
