Tapinolobus is a genus of humpback chirps .

features

These humpbacks are approx. 4.9 to 6.5 millimeters long. The color is brown, reddish brown or yellowish green, often with lighter lines. They have an elongated shape, the pronotum has only one process directed backwards, but it does not reach the end of the forewings. There are no lateral or upward spines or appendages. The pronotum is only slightly hairy and weakly dotted. The head is roughly triangular, the fore wings are transparent with five apical and three discoidal cells.

Way of life

Practically nothing is known about the way of life of these Membracidae, they suck plant sap . Sometimes T. curvispina was caught quite frequently in the Panguana research station in Peru, in other years not at all.

Systematics

The genus is closely related to various similar genera such as Amblyophallus and Stictolobus , from which they differ mainly in the morphology of the genital structures.

The genus includes only two known species: Tapinolobus albifasciatus , known from Argentina, Brazil and Ecuador, and Tapinolobus curvispina (= T. fasciatus ), known from Brazil, Paraguay and Peru.
