The Taras Shevchenko Memorial ( English Taras Shevchenko Memorial ) in Washington, DC was built in memory of the Ukrainian national poet Taras Shevchenko in the Dupont Circle district of the American capital.

On 27 June 1964, was largely by exiled Ukrainians as Lev Dobriansky ( Лев Добрянський Lew Dobrjanskyj ) and Roman Smal Stozkyj ( Роман Степанович Смаль-Стоцький ) initiated, monument by former US President Dwight D. Eisenhower in the presence of about 35,000 People of Ukrainian descent, the Archbishop of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Archepark of Philadelphia Ambrozij Andrew Senyshyn, as well as numerous prominent citizens.

Commissioned on July 14, 1962 , the bronze statue by Ukrainian-Canadian sculptor Leo Mol ( Leonid Molodozhanin ; 1915-2009) is approximately 14 feet (4.3 meters) high and stands on a roughly 7 feet (2nd floor ) , 1 meter) high granite base .
