Tarefa

Tarefa , also square tarefa , was a measure of area in Brazil that differed considerably from region to region and could be between 30 and more than 40 ares . The measure still applied according to the legally introduced metric system of measurement. The new dimensions were decided on June 26, 1862 and put into effect on January 1, 1874.

Bahia : 1 Tarefa = 900 Braça quadratas = 0.4356 hectares
Ceará : 1 tarefa = 0.363 hectares
Alagoas , Rio Grande do Norte , Sergipe : 1 tarefa = 0.3025 hectares
