Tarek Rasouli (* 1974 ) is a former German BMX and mountain bike professional freerider. He has been paralyzed since an accident in 2002. Since then he has been organizing freeride events with his own company. Rasouli is considered a "legend among bikers and freeriders" and was "one of the most famous mountain bikers".

Life

Tarek Rasouli grew up in Munich . In 1983, at the age of nine, he started riding BMX bikes. He is constantly improving; in the early 1990s he became a member of the "University of BMX" training camp with which he trained in the USA. After graduating from school, he went back to the United States to take part in competitions. Around 1994 he switched from BMX bikes to mountain bikes (MTB). Rasouli wins the Munich city championship, the Württemberg Cup, becomes Bavarian champion and German champion.

Because of his appearance, Rasouli was also photographed as a model for advertising, catalogs and calendars. He and his friend Igor Obu appear together in show events, where they jump 24 people or a height of 1.07 meters.

In the Canadian town of Sunpeaks on July 23, 2002 an accident occurs during the shooting of a film in "Whistler Bike Peak": after jumping 17 meters, Rasouli realizes that he has jumped too far. He lets go of the bike and lands on his feet from a height of six meters, breaking his first lumbar vertebra. Since then he has been paraplegic.

After a long period of rehabilitation, Rasouli founds his own company in which he organizes events with three employees. Today he also writes for magazines and is Vice President of the Freeride Mountain Bike Association.
