The Tarr Nunatak is a 1700 m high nunatak on the Antarctic Ross Island . It rises 1.9 km south-southwest of Abbott Peak on the northwest slope of Mount Erebus .
The New Zealand Geographic Board named him in 2000 after Sergeant Laurence Walter "Wally" Tarr (1924–2012) of the Royal New Zealand Air Force , an aircraft mechanic for the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (1955–1958).
