Tarvit Farm

The Tarvit Farm is a farm in the Scottish town of St. Andrews in the Council Area Fife . In 1984 the building was included as an individual monument in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.

description

The Travit Farm was built around 1800 as the estate of the nearby Tarvit House (not to be confused with the Hill of Tarvit House ). Tarvit House itself was demolished in the 1950s, so that only the Tarvit Farm remains today.

The farm is located on the southeast edge of Cupar. A two-story building with a U-shaped floor plan surrounds an inner courtyard on three sides. It ends with a slate roof. In the courtyard there is a newer building that is explicitly excluded from the preservation order. It replaces an older building in the same location. The long north flank is eleven axes wide. The tower above the central, arched doorway is striking . It has an octagonal , pilastrized base on which a high, pointed helmet with a ball is seated. Clocks are embedded on opposite sides. The tower is used as a pigeon tower , which is why entry holes can be seen along the helmet.
