Tashkent South Railway Station (Toshkent Janubiy Vokzal) is a long-distance railway station in the Uzbek capital Tashkent .
Geographical location
The station is located in the urban area of Tashkent, about 6.5 km southwest of the main train station (Toshkent Passaschirskaja Csentral) , on the country's railroad towards Bukhara . The station occupies an area of 9.2 hectares .
Technical parameters
The station building has been rebuilt in recent years. It is a reinforced concrete structure with large glass surfaces and stylistic echoes of both Soviet and Islamic architecture . The station forecourt was also redesigned and equipped with two large fountains with a diameter of 14 m each.
The station is designed to handle 500 passengers at the same time. On two platforms , there are three platform tracks. The facilities include 12 ticket counters , separate waiting rooms for travelers in the lower and upper carriage classes and for "mother and child", a counter for travel information and shops. Free WiFi is available throughout the station .
