The Tashi Kang (other spelling: Tashikang ) is a 6386  m high mountain in the northeast of the Dhaulagiri Himal , a part of the Himalayas in Nepal .

The Tashi Kang is located nearly 22 km north-northeast of the eight-thousand-meter Dhaulagiri I . The Tashi Kang forms the second highest peak of the Sandache Himal mountain group , which is bordered to the north and west by the so-called Hidden Valley . The river valley of the Kali Gandaki runs in the southeast and east . An approximately 6170  m high saddle separates the Tashi Kang from the 1.11 km north, slightly higher Peak Europa ( 6403  m ). A mountain ridge leads to the Tasartse ( 6343  m ), 1.94 km east-northeast . A ridge runs south from Tashi Kang over Dhampus ( 6012  m ) and Tukche Ri ( 6920  m ) to Dhaulagiri I.

Ascent history

In 2002, a Japanese expedition managed to climb Tashi Kang for the first time . The ascent route led from the Hidden Valley to the summit. Yasue Mogi and Gyalzen Sherpa climbed the summit, while the other expedition members stopped 15 m below the summit.

On April 19, 2003, Tashi Kang was climbed by Swiss Angela Beltrame and Germans Olaf Köhler, Frank Meutzner, Götz Wiegand and Olaf Zill. The ascent took place over the southeast ridge.

On October 10, 2003, a French expedition (François Borghese, Frederic Dufau-Joel and Paulo Grobel ) climbed the mountain (ascent via the north ridge, descent via the east flank).
