Tatsiana Karatkewitsch ( Belarusian Таццяна Караткевіч; Russian Татьяна Короткевич, Tatyana Korotkewitsch ; born March 8, 1977 in Minsk , Belarusian Soviet Socialist Republic , USSR ) is a Belarusian politician and psychologist.

biography

Karatkevich studied psychology at the Belarusian State Pedagogical University . After completing her studies, she taught at the same university for 11 years. At the same time, she worked at the Institute of Management and Social Technologies of the Belarusian State University. Here she completed her master’s degree in 2012.

Karatkewitsch has been involved in socio-political activities in Belarus since 1999 . Since 2010 she has participated in the citizens' movement “Gowori prawdu” (“Tell the Truth”) to challenge Aljaksandr Lukashenka in the presidential elections.

In 2012 Karatkewitsch ran unsuccessfully in the parliamentary elections.

In the 2015 presidential elections , Karatkewitsch was sent into the election race by the opposition bloc “People's Referendum”, which consisted of the citizens' movements “Gowori prawdu”, “Sa swobodu” (“For Freedom”), the liberal-conservative party, the BNF, and Hramada. She described herself as the only democratic candidate in the country. According to the Central Election Commission of Belarus, Karatkewitsch received only 4.4 percent of the votes cast and took second place behind Lukashenka.

Karatkevich is divorced and has one son.
