Tatton is a constituency of the British House of Commons in the county of Cheshire . The constituency was created in its current form in 1983 and covers much of Alderley Edge and Wilmslow . He sends a representative to parliament.

history

The constituency was created for the 1983 general election from the parts of the previous constituencies of Runcorn, Cheadle, Northwich and Knutsford. Mostly he was represented by members of the Conservative Party .

In the 1983 elections, Neil Hamilton won the seat, which he represented in parliament until the 1997 general election. In this election, the independent politician Martin Bell won the seat in Cheshire. He did not run again in the 2001 general election and so the Conservatives were able to win the seat with their candidate George Osborne again. He was a member of Prime Minister David Cameron's cabinet as Treasury Secretary and represented Tatton until he left the House of Commons in the 2017 general election

Esther McVey , who was Secretary of State for Work and Pensions under Prime Minister Theresa May , has represented the constituency in the House of Commons since the 2017 general election . In Boris Johnson Cabinet McVey is as Minister of State for Housing operates.

In April 2013 the constituency had an unemployment rate of only 1.8%. This value was significantly lower than the national average of 3.8%.
