Pigeon Tower in Avrainville

The pigeon tower (French colombier or pigeonnier ) in Avrainville , a French commune in the Essonne department in the Île-de-France region , was built in the 14th century.

The rectangular pigeon tower on Place de l'Eglise originally belonged to a farm belonging to the Saint-Germain-des-Prés Abbey in Paris.

The squat tower made of stone masonry was renovated in 1997. The access with wooden external stairs was added. The pyramid roof is crowned by a roof pommel with a weather vane .
