Tauris (Mülheim-Kärlich)
The Tauris is a leisure pool in Mülheim-Kärlich . In June 1986 the city council of Mülheim-Kärlich decided to build the pool, which opened in 1991. It got its name after the ancient Taurien , the former name of the Crimean peninsula . The Tauris is operated by Aquapark Management West GmbH on behalf of the city of Mülheim-Kärlich. In 2012, 290,000 people visited the leisure pool.
The facilities include a pool area, sauna , wellness offers, solariums and a restaurant.
Bathing area and sauna
The bathing area is equipped with a sports pool with 25-meter lanes and a leisure pool with a giant slide, white water canal and hanging net. There are also paddling pools for small children, whirlpools and an outdoor pool.
In the sauna area you will find a spacious outdoor sauna, a Finnish sauna , a steam bath and a caldarium.
Incidents
On the night of May 5, 1997, a fire broke out in a sauna , which destroyed the entire sauna area.
On September 29, 2019, the lifeless body of a six-year-old boy was recovered from the bottom of the pool at around 6:30 p.m. The boy was tried to be resuscitated but later died in hospital. The autopsy found that the boy drowned.
