Tavë Elbasani

Tavë Elbasani (other form of name: Tavë kosi ) is a main course from the Albanian cultural area in the style of a casserole . It consists of baked sheep or lamb in a spicy sauce made from soured milk ( Albanian  kos ) and eggs. The dish is named after the city of Elbasan in Albania , where the dish originated.

The original dish today has many variations. Often rice is also added to the plate. Ordinary yogurt is also used instead of sour milk. Veal and beef are also popular ingredients.
