Taxi office

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A taxi center coordinates the use of taxis connected to it in a certain area . It mainly takes inquiries from passengers by telephone and forwards them mostly by radio to free drivers. About 80 percent of all taxis in Germany are connected to one of the 500 or so taxi centers . The taxi centers do not always work exclusively in one area, but sometimes compete with other centers.

Legally, many taxi centers are organized as cooperatives of individual taxi companies, whose membership is often limited and whose procedures have been defined by a set of rules. Drivers who do not belong to the respective cooperative must pay fees for both using the radio and for assigned journeys.

Taxi Berlin is currently the largest taxi control center in Europe with over 5,000 taxis and in 2011 it served more than 750,000 driving orders per month at its peak.

Taxi apps

Taxi apps are smartphone - applications which offer comfortable and automatic taxi permit -Order without a phone call.

The costs of mediation will be charged to the taxi company. That is why the taxi apps and taxi orders via this intermediary option are usually free of charge for the customer.

The disadvantage is that the apps are not compatible with all smartphone platforms and the number of providers means that the participating taxi fleets are fragmented, which leads to poorer coverage and longer journeys.
Any special features of the driving order (e.g. bulky luggage, disabilities, large animals, hidden entrances, etc.) should also be discussed by telephone after placement (the telephone numbers required for this will be shown to each other if the placement is successful).
