Teófilo Freitas

Teófilo Freitas (born May 28, 1993 ) is a track and field athlete from East Timor .

In 2016, Freitas won the national championships in the 400 meter race, as well as the ASEAN Para Games 2017 in Malaysia over 400 and 800 meters.

At the Para-Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta , Freitas won the final race over 400 meters in the T37 class and thus the first gold medal for East Timor at the Para-Asian Games . He completed the route with a new Asian record time in 53.14 seconds. In the run-up he had needed 54.01 seconds. In the same games he then won gold over 1500 meters (class T37 / 38) in 00: 04: 32.74.

On December 3, 2018, Freitas was awarded the East Timor Medal of Merit.
