Team Lines is a container shipping company based in Hamburg . The company operated container delivery services in liner service with feeder ships in the North and Baltic Seas . It was the largest German company in this sector. Operations ceased on February 11, 2019.

history

The Team Lines were founded on October 1, 1991 by the four Hamburg shipping companies HM Gehrckens , Ernst Russ , Johannes Ick and Mathies-Reederei to combine their North and Baltic Sea line services (Ick and Mathies are both from Harald Sommer, the Hamburg's grandson Ship owner Arthur Sommer). The name Team Lines goes back to the ConRo liner service operated jointly by Gehrckens, Mathies and the Swedish shipping company Nordström & Thulin under the name Teamline from 1967 to 1972 , on which two Sietas Type 52 ships were used.

In the following decade, Team Lines became the second largest feeder shipping company in the North and Baltic Seas after Unifeeder . In 2000 the shipping company operated a fleet of 22 chartered ships and had a turnover of around 100 million euros. It generated a profit of around 1.2 million euros and was valued at around 14 million euros in the final balance sheet for the year.

Due to successor problems in the summer, the majority shareholders of Ick, Mathies and Russ sold their 68.2% of the shares in Team Lines in April 2001 for about 10 (other source 20) million euros to the shipping company Finnlines from Helsinki, which had previously held a stake of 31 , 8% had acquired. Team Lines' turnover increased to 187 million euros by 2005, the last full year in Finnlines ownership. In July 2006, Finnlines finally sold Team Lines in a debt-free state for 40 million euros to the logistics company Delphis from Antwerp, which was only founded in April 2004. With the takeover, the existing Delphis line network was expanded to include the existing Team Lines services. The red and blue Team Lines office flag with the white trident was abandoned after the takeover and replaced by a red and blue flag with a jumping dolphin. Team Lines operated around 20 container ships in 2013 and expanded the route network in October 2013 in cooperation with the OPDR shipping company to include a joint service between Rotterdam, Felixtowe and Bilbao.

Due to the market situation, the company stopped all activities on February 11, 2019.
