TechEdSat 3 ( English Technical and Educational Satellite 3 for technical and training satellite 3 ) was an American technology testing and amateur radio satellite . Designed and built the satellite was jointly organized by the San José State University (SJSU) and the University of Idaho under the direction of the Ames Research Center of NASA .

Structure and payload

TechEdSat 3 was a 3U cubesat . The main task of the satellite was to test a passive braking system. The predecessor was the CubeSat TechEdSat 1 .

Mission history

TechEdSat 3 was launched on August 3, 2013 19:48 UTC from Tanegashima Space Center on board the Japanese space freighter HTV-4 together with the small satellites ArduSat X , ArduSat 1 and Pico Dragon with an H-IIB to the space station ISS . On November 20, 2013, the CubeSat was launched into space from board the ISS with the help of a launch device.

On January 16, 2014, the satellite burned up in the earth's atmosphere.
