The Kim Chaek University of Technology ( 김책 공업 종합 대학 ) is a university in the North Korean capital Pyongyang . It is located in the Chung-guyŏk district on Yonggwang Street and the Taedong-gang embankment . The university opened on September 27, 1948 and is named after the general and politician Kim Ch'aek .
The university has 18 faculties and around 80 departments. The number of students is around 10,000. There are ten research institutes, 54 laboratories and a graduate school . Around 2000 employees work at the university.

The central university building was opened in 1992 and has 15 floors and an enclosed courtyard. Among other things, there is a hall for 2000 people. In addition to an e-library and a sports hall, the campus also includes several institute and research buildings as well as student dormitories. The e-library opened in 2006. It extends over five floors and a total area of 16,000 square meters. There are twelve computer reading rooms and four other conventional reading rooms.
The university's sports hall was also opened in 2006. In addition to the main arena, it houses four training halls, a sauna and other ancillary rooms. It offers space for 4000 people and is used as a multifunctional hall for sports events as well as for conferences.
The Automation Institute of Kim Chaek University of Technology has been located in the residential district of Mirae Street since 2015 .
Research & Development
At the end of 2012, students at the university developed North Korea's first video game to be published worldwide in collaboration with Nosotek and Koryo Tours ; Pyongyang racer .
Remarks
Excellent employees have been allowed to live in a special residential area, Mirae Street, since November 2015.
