The Technology Center Wuppertal , also called W-tec for short , has been a limited liability company in the south of Elberfeld in the Bergisch city ​​of Wuppertal since 1992 . It offers over 14,000 m² of office, laboratory and conference rooms, especially for young and growing companies from the region. In addition, advice and contacts to established companies and banks are offered. More than 170 companies currently use the premises. W-Tec is owned 50% by the Wuppertal Economic Development Agency and 50% by Bergische Universität and 30 local companies.

The technology center is located on Lise-Meitner-Straße in the south of the Elberfeld district of Wuppertal and in the immediate vicinity of the Cronenberg district . To the south is the headquarters of the automotive supplier Aptiv Services Deutschland GmbH (formerly Delphi Automotive), north of the Freudenberg campus of the Bergische Universität Wuppertal .

A branch of the W-tec is located in the premises of the former Colmar barracks on Lichtscheid .

Like other technology centers , W-tec offers targeted advice and support. Of the more than 1,500 funding programs offered by the EU , the federal government, the federal states and the municipalities , the company specializes primarily in business start-ups , business growth and the development of new technologies. The focus is particularly on the following programs:

The W-tec has a direct connection to the two-lane L 418 , which leads to the Sonnborner Kreuz in the west and thus to the federal highways A 46 and A 535 and in the east via Lichtscheid to Ronsdorf and to the L 419 , which in turn connects further connection for A 1 is prepared. Support association

Since the founding of W-tec, there has been a development association that is supported by both users of the premises and other regional companies and so far, among other things, the establishment of two furnished start-up offices that can be used to set up a company for a small fee , made possible. This idea has already found imitators in other technology parks. More than 25 companies have joined the association so far.
