Teglværksbroen

Teglværksbroen (Brickworks Bridge ) is a bascule bridge in Denmark that connects Sluseholmen with Teglholmen in the south harbor of Copenhagen .

The 97 meter long and 20 meter wide bridge with two lanes for motor vehicles has bike paths and sidewalks on both sides. It was opened to traffic on January 22, 2011. It is the first combined road , pedestrian and cycle bridge that connects the two peninsulas Teglholmen with Sluseholmen across the Teglværksløb (Canal). It is important for the improved infrastructure in the southern harbor, previously the islands could only be reached with the somewhat long and unattractive route along the Sydhavnsgade.

The bridge, designed by the Danish architecture firm Hvidt & Mølgaard, was prefabricated in Poland in individual elements 20 × 20 m, transported by ship to the construction site and assembled there. Funding came through a collaboration between the City of Copenhagen and private landowners from the peninsulas. Reports put the construction costs at around 67.2 million Danish kroner.
