The pasta Riesa GmbH is a company based in Riesa in Saxony. The manufacturer of dry pasta is listed throughout Germany and has been the market leader in the new federal states since 1996 with a market share of around 30%.

history

In 1914, the Großeinkaufs-Gesellschaft Deutscher Consumvereine mbH Hamburg founded the consumer pasta factory Riesa in what is now the Gröba district . In 1928 sliced, ribbon , thread and homemade noodles as well as macaroni were produced. The company also had its own box factory for manufacturing the outer packaging of the products.

Various types of pasta from the Riesa consumer pasta factory

The factory became a member of the Association of Saxon Consumer Cooperatives . In 1950 the Riesa pasta factory was the largest of the three pasta manufacturers in Saxony. In 1956 the first multi-machine operation was introduced. In the following year, a semi-automatic macaroni packing machine was installed. In 1980 a production line for haberdashery ( croissants , mussels , spirelli , chips and ribbon noodles) was put into operation on a trial basis. From 1987 the production of spaghetti (long goods) took place on a computer-controlled production line; production could thus be increased by 50%. With an annual production of 12,000 tons of pasta, the company became the most efficient pasta manufacturer in the GDR. On September 1, 1992, the consumer center in Berlin shut down operations.

The noodle center

Since January 1, 1993, the factory has continued to operate as a subsidiary of Alb-Gold Teigwaren GmbH , based in Trochtelfingen , Baden-Württemberg . In the same year, Teigwaren Riesa GmbH was founded and the new company logo was designed, which is supposed to represent a stylized giant who quickly transports a giant noodle wrapped around a fork. The motif was chosen based on the legend about the city of Riesa .

In 1993 a fully automatic packaging line for long and short pasta was put into operation. In 1996 the company became the market leader in the new federal states. In September 1998 a newly built 3000 m 2 warehouse and logistics complex was inaugurated. In 2000, a new production line for the manufacture of haberdashery was put into operation. The pasta center was opened in 2003 . It houses a glass production facility, a pasta museum, a pasta workshop, a restaurant and a factory outlet. In 2007 a second production hall was built. In 2008 a cooking studio was opened in the noodle center and the noodle museum and sales were modernized and expanded. At the same time, a new production line for specialties was commissioned.
