Part load traffic

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As part loads to transport referred to, in which several partial loads together and on a means of transport are conveyed.

Partial loads are shipments that are not handled due to their size or corresponding specifications by the shipper (such as a "transshipment ban" for sensitive goods), but do not fully utilize the cargo space of the means of transport. Correspondingly, a partial load is transported with other partial loads or together with groupage . In contrast to full load transports, part load transports are somewhat more time-consuming and usually require a somewhat longer transport time. In the case of goods that are particularly critical in terms of deadlines, shipments that would fall into the partial load segment due to their volume and weight are sometimes handled as full loads in order to accelerate the transport.

From the English a partial charge in truck traffic will also be adopted called LTL ( "less than truckload"). In container traffic, one speaks of LCL (“less than container load”).
