Telefèric de Montjuïc
The Telefèric de Montjuïc ( Catalan for 'Montjuïc cable car') is a detachable single-cable gondola lift on Montjuïc in Barcelona ( Spain ). The cable car is in operation all year round, except for the maintenance period.
The cable car cabins slow down the journey in the stations and are decoupled from the hoisting rope to enable easier entry and exit. This allows z. B. wheelchairs, mountain bikes, strollers etc. can be transported more easily.
history
The current cable car replaces an earlier system that was opened on June 22, 1970. Due to renovations and repairs, the cable car was not in operation from 2005 to 2007. On May 16, 2007, the cable car was reopened after the renovation.
The facility is owned and operated by Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB).
