The phone Bay is a small bay on the northwest side of Port Foster at Deception Iceland in the South Shetland Islands .
The name Baie du Telefon first appears on maps that were created in 1909 during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908–1910) under the direction of Jean-Baptiste Charcot . It was named after the SS Telefon , a cargo steamer built in 1900 under the Norwegian flag, which ran onto a reef off King George Island in 1908 .
