Teleservice

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Teleservice is the exchange of data with remote technical systems ( machines , production systems, computers and similar) for the purpose of error detection, diagnosis, maintenance , data analysis or optimization. The connection between the user and the system can be established using the following communication media:

Teleservice can be used by the operating personnel, for example, to receive error messages on the mobile phone during so-called "unmanned operation", in which there is no operator in front of the system. But providers of capital goods are also increasingly using teleservice to provide quick on-site service. In many cases it is then not necessary to send service technicians to the machine. Many capital goods manufacturers sell their products worldwide and can significantly increase their service level with the help of teleservice .

However, precise agreements are necessary here in order to rule out liability problems. For example, the remote service technician is generally not allowed to remotely control the machine in order to eliminate hazards for the on-site operator.

An uninterrupted data transfer between the system and the service technician is a prerequisite for smooth teleservice. A modem is used for this, which is connected to the control of the system and sends signals via a fixed telephone line or cellular network, or the system is integrated into a network that is connected to the Internet.
