from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Teliani Valley ( Georgian თელიანი ველი ) is a 1997 privatized winery in Georgia . It has the legal form of a stock corporation, with the shareholders being Georgians. The manager is the chief oenologist George Dakishvili, who studied oenology in Odessa and then worked for the Zinandali state winery .

Oenological methods

Georgian red wine

As is customary with the other wineries, the cellar master uses the oenological methods of flooding, dipping and stirring when making red wine . This makes it possible to later produce the wine styles desired by the market by blending the different red wine types. The technology for these methods is partly new and comes from Italy . Older steel tanks came from the friendly German Democratic Republic , which once had lively trade relations with Georgia.

The company invests in a modern, new filling plant with higher performance in a new cellar building. The move should be completed by mid-2006. In 2005, 30 hectares of our own area were planted for the first time.

Market position

Until 2005 Teliani was a pure winery with purchased grapes. In 2015, wine sales were around 15 million Lari . It exports to the Ukraine , Russia , the Baltic States , Belarus , Kazakhstan , Poland and the USA . Only 5% of Teliani wines are consumed in the home market of Georgia. The subsidiary Global Beer Georgia is building a brewery that will generate shares in the beer market.
