Tell-Star was a game show of the Swiss television . It ran from 1980 to 1991 and was moderated by Bernard Thurnheer . The program was produced by Marco Stöcklin .

Tell-Star was initially broadcast weekly and from 1981 every two weeks on Mondays at 8 p.m. The first of a total of 250 programs ran on January 7, 1980, the last on December 23, 1991. The program achieved high audience ratings. In 1992, the Benissimo program, an entertainment and lottery show, followed as a replacement . It was the most successful regular entertainment program on Swiss television. The moderator was also Bernard Thurnheer.

In the show, candidates competed against each other in three rounds. In the first round questions were asked about current topics, in the second one had to guess the survey results and in the third one had to answer questions about a specialty of the respective candidate. The jury was initially Marco Stöcklin and Hannes Bichsel , later Roger Cahn . At the end of the year, the winners competed against each other in a final broadcast. In the early phase, the questions mainly dealt with Swiss topics, later the catalog of questions was expanded internationally. The successor as a Monday evening quiz took risk .
