The Tell es-Sa'idiyeh located in Jordan about 45 kilometers south of the Sea of Galilee on the border with Israel , east of the river Jordan in the plane. It was settled from the Early Bronze Age to the Persian Age, with a settlement gap between around 700 and 400 BC. The cemetery on the lower Tell belongs to the late Bronze Age (LBII). It overlays layers of settlement from the Early Bronze Age.

The remains of a roofed stone staircase on the north side of Tell, which led down to a spring, date from the early Iron Age . As charred plant remains show, wheat, barley, lentils, broad beans, chickpeas, grapes, figs, pomegranates and olives were consumed in the early Bronze Age. Pistachios and acorns were collected, as well as the fruits of the Syrian Christ thorn ( Ziziphus spina-christi ) and the hawthorn.

Excavations have been taking place since 1964 by the University of Pennsylvania under the direction of James Bennett Pritchard .
