Lycium amoenum is a plant type from the genus of Lycium ( Lycium ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

description

Lycium amoenum is a 1 to 2 m tall, thorn- armed shrub . The leaves are slightly succulent , 12 to 24 mm long and 4 to 7 mm wide.

The flowers are hermaphroditic and five-fold. The calyx is bell-shaped or occasionally broadly tubular. The calyx tube reaches a length of 6 to 8 mm. The calyx lobes are 2 to 3 mm long. The crown is bell-shaped to broadly funnel-shaped and colored dirty-white and provided with purple markings and purple corolla lobes. The corolla tube is 10 to 14 mm long, the corolla lobes 3 to 5 mm. The base of the stamens is hairy.

The fruit is a red, broadly egg-shaped or spherical berry that is 8 to 10 mm long and wide.

Occurrence

The species is widespread on the African continent and occurs there in South Africa in the provinces of the Western Cape and North Cape , as well as in Namibia .
