Tempcore process

The Tempcore process is a method for improving the properties of steel . Directly after rolling , the steel is quenched on the surface in a water cooling section to approx. 100 ° C. On the cooling bed, the temperature moves again from the core to the edge. This method roughly corresponds to that of tempering . This creates a ferritic-pearlitic core and a tempered martensitic edge zone.

The ductility (toughness) and strength of the steel are improved . The Tempcore process is used particularly in the manufacture of reinforcing steel .
