Ten Walls (* 1983 in Vilnius ; actually Marijus Adomaitis , also Mario Basanov ) is a Lithuanian musician in the field of deep house .

Life

Adomaitis received a classical music education. He studied bassoon at the music faculty of the Lietuvos muzikos ir teatro akademija in Vilnius and then music technologies at the chair of audiovisual arts of the faculty of social, humanities and arts of the Kauno technologijos universitetas in Kaunas .

As of 1998, he is also known as Mario Basanov . In spring 2013 he released his first EP on the Berlin label Innervisions under the pseudonym Ten Walls. The title track Gotham developed into a worldwide club hit. In November 2013, the second EP Requiem followed on the Italian label Life and Death . In April 2014 the EP Walking with Elephants was released . After several appearances at festivals in the summer, the recording reached the top ten of the British iTunes charts in early September . He is the director of Boso Records Limited.

In June 2015, Ten Walls caused outrage with a post on the social network Facebook . In it he condemned same-sex sexuality and compared it to pedophilia. As a result, he was removed from the program at various festivals and his agency, Coda Music Agency, broke their relationship with him. The corresponding statements were later deleted from Facebook. In a recent post, Ten Walls apologized, but at the same time claimed that he had canceled the festival dates himself. However, the organizers of the Dutch festival PITCH and the Spanish festival Sónar confirmed that they had canceled Ten Walls due to his homophobic statements.

family

His father, Algirdas Adomaitis, is a violinist .

His brother, seven years older than him, is the singer Linas Adomaitis .
