Tennispark Versmold is a tennis club from Versmold in the Gütersloh district . The men's team played in the 2nd Bundesliga North in the 2017 and 2018 seasons .
history
The association was founded in 1929 as TC Grün-Weiß Versmold and became part of the Spvg Versmold after the end of the Second World War . In 1965 the department separated from the sports association and re-established the TC Grün-Weiß Versmold . On April 25, 1981, the new tennis facility was opened in the Versmold city park. The facility, which initially comprised six clay courts, was expanded by two in 2006. In the meantime, on March 30, 1982, a new tennis department was founded at Spvg Versmold, which moves into a facility on Speckstrasse.
Since 2006, both clubs have been discussing a cooperation, which was then implemented and was successful. As a result, both clubs started merger talks. Finally, on March 31, 2008 , the TC Grün-Weiß Versmold decided to rename it to Tennispark Versmold. Four days later, the members of the tennis department of Spvg Versmold decided to dissolve it on June 30, 2008 and to join the association Tennispark Versmold.
The men's team from the Versmold tennis park was promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga North in 2016. As runner-up, the Versmold benefited from the fact that the regional league champion TC Blau-Weiss Halle II was not allowed to move up to the 2nd Bundesliga. In the second division season 2017, Tennispark Versmold was surprisingly runner-up behind TC Blau-Weiss Neuss . A year later, the Versmolder rose again from bottom of the table.
Since 2008 the association Tennispark Versmold has organized the ladies tournament Reinert Open , also known as the International Westphalian Tennis Championships for women .
