Tennis club

A tennis club (also tennis club ) is a club whose aim is to give tennis enthusiasts access to playing areas and like-minded people. Like most sports clubs, they are organized in associations. These offer the clubs participation in organized competitions in the form of tournaments or league operations .

In 1881 the established Anglican pastor Thomas Starnes White in Baden-Baden Germany's first tennis club, the Baden-Baden Lawn Tennis Club . The German Tennis Federation was founded in 1902 as an umbrella organization and today consists of 17 regional associations in which around 9,000 tennis clubs throughout Germany are united. The total number of members is about 1.4 million. In 1911 the professional organization of the Association of German Tennis Teachers (VDT) was founded. The International Tennis Federation was founded in 1913.
