Superior Airmanship Award
The Superior Airmanship Award is an award given by the Air Line Pilots Association, International (ALPA for short) for special flying achievements. The award ceremony will take place as part of the ALPA's annual flight safety award gala. On the occasion of this, films will also be shown that reproduce the performance to be honored using means of cinematic reconstruction such as recordings from flight simulators .
Award winners
- US Airways captain Henry Jones and his co-pilot Jim Dannahower for their quick reaction and professional execution of the take-off maneuver in a near-collision at Logan Airport in 2005 .
- Air Transat flight captain Robert Piché and his co-pilot Dirk Dejager for the longest glide flight of a jet aircraft, with which they saved all passengers and the crew in 2001 after Air Transat flight 236 ran out of kerosene.
