Tenpole Tudor is a British punk band that had some success in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Career
The group was formed in 1977 from the remains of a band called The Visitors . Head and lead singer was and is Edward "Eddie" Tudor Pole. This broke up the group several times and put it together again and again.
1979 Tudor-Pole starred at the instigation of Malcolm McLaren in the film The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle with and about the Sex Pistols . For this he also contributed two of his own songs, which were published on the B-sides of Singles of the Pistols, but listed on the same level as the A-sides in the British charts: Who Killed Bambi? (B-side of Silly Thing ) and Rock Around the Clock (B-side of The Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle ). In April 1981 Swords of a Thousand Men achieved their first and biggest success (UK charts number 6).
In 1982 the band was dissolved for the first time. Tudor-Pole has since been seen as an actor in many plays in theater, film and television, using many different but similar names: Eddie Tudor Pole / Edward Tudor Pole / Eddie Tenpole / Tenpole Tudor / Eddie Tudor-Pole / Ed Tudor -Pole . In the early 1990s, he took over the game show The Crystal Maze on British television from Richard O'Brien .
Again and again he goes on tour with a new formation under the same name.
