Tenthredopsis stigma is a plant wasp from the family of sawfly (Tenthredinidae).
features
The species reaches a body length of 11–12 mm. The wasps are mostly black in color. The sides of the pronotum , the tegulae and the scutellum (label) are light yellow. The 3rd to 6th tergites of the abdomen are colored red. The transparent wings have a yellow stigma. The red legs have black coxa . The tarsi are bright red to white in color.
distribution
The species occurs in the western Palearctic . In Europe, it is represented in Central and Southern Europe. The species is absent from the British Isles and Scandinavia.
Way of life
The typical habitat of Tenthredopsis stigma is formed by forest edges and hedges. The plant wasps can be observed especially in spring in April and May. The larvae are found on sweet grasses (Poaceae).
