Teodoro Escamilla

Teodoro Escamilla (born October 23, 1940 in Seville , † December 21, 1997 in Cuba ) was a Spanish cameraman.

Life

Teodoro Escamilla, often also called Teo Escamilla, first worked as a photo reporter, then as a cameraman for television and came to the cinema in the mid-1960s. For several years he worked as assistant to the cameraman Luis Cuadrado before he took on responsibility as chief cameraman. Between 1975 and 1988 he photographed almost all films by director Carlos Saura , the most famous and most innovative Spanish director of those years. Escamilla died at the age of 57 while making a film that would also have been his directorial debut.
