Teresa Guiccioli

Teresa Guiccioli (* 1800 ; † 1873 ) was an Italian noblewoman and lover of the poet Lord Byron . She belonged to the Italian separatist organization the Carbonari . Together with Byron she was exiled to Pisa, where she lived until 1823. After his death she wrote a book about her lover: Lord Byron's Life in Italy (original title: Vie de Lord Byron en Italie ).

In the adventure novel The Count of Monte Christo , the French writer Alexandre Dumas created a literary monument for her with the figure of Baroness Danglars.

The protagonist of a novel by the Nobel laureate JM Coetzee , shame , is working on an opera about Byron from the perspective Guicciolis.
