Teresa Nawrot

Teresa Nawrot (* 1948 ) is a Polish actress and founder of the “Reduta Berlin” theater school.

Nawrot studied from 1968 to 1971 at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz Theater Academy in Warsaw . From 1971 to 1984 she worked as an actress and assistant to the founder in the "Teatr Laboratorium" founded by Jerzy Grotowski . In doing so, she ate in his paratheatrical activities. Since 1975 she has also performed in the "Teatr Współczesny" (Contemporary Theater) in Wroclaw and in the "Stara Prochownia" (Old Powder Tower Theater) in Warsaw .

After leaving the Teatr Laboratory, she worked as a freelance film and theater actress and also gave lectures on the Grotowski Method in the United States , South America , Australia , Egypt and in the countries of Western Europe .

In 1983 she founded a drama school in Berlin-Kreuzberg, which was called "Nawrot-Reduta" until 1995 and later "Reduta Berlin". The name is derived from the Warsaw “Reduta” theater, an avant-garde theater by the actor Juliusz Osterwa , who was active in the 1930s. Nawrot teaches according to Grotowski's training methods and represents the acting technique and philosophy of the “Teatr Laboratorium”.
