Teresa Scanlan (born February 6, 1993 in Gering , Nebraska ) is an American beauty queen and Miss America 2011. Miss Nebraska 2010 is the youngest female title holder since Bette Cooper in 1937.

biography

Scanlan is of Croatian descent. Her maternal grandparents, Frank and Nives Jelich, immigrated to the United States from the island of Ilovik , Croatia.

Scanlan received extracurricular instruction through her first half junior year of Gering High School . She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in the spring of 2010 after repeating a year there.

She won the Miss Nebraska title on June 5, 2010 and received the crown from her predecessor Brittany Jeffers.

Scanlan is interested in eating disorders and plays the piano. At 17, she was the youngest Miss Nebraska ever. After winning the Miss Nebraska title, Scanlan announced a year off from school to fulfill her duties as Miss Nebraska and that she had postponed her enrollment at Patrick Henry College until fall 2011.

She won the Miss America title on January 15, 2011 as the first Miss Nebraska and youngest female winner in 74 years.

Scalan has been studying at Patrick Henry Evangelical College since 2012 .
