The Ternitzer Hütte , also known as the Grassinger Hütte , is a refuge in the Schneeberg massif in southern Lower Austria . It was built in 1922, is 1199 m above sea level. A. on the stallion in the municipality of Puchberg am Schneeberg and is operated by Naturefriends Austria, Ternitz local group. The hut can be reached both via hiking trails and with the Schneebergbahn , which takes about 35 minutes to walk downhill from the Baumgarten station or uphill from the Hengstütte station.
The unmanaged refuge has overnight accommodations in 4- to 8-bed rooms for a maximum of 36 people. Electric light and cooking facilities for self-catering as well as simple meals and drinks are available. In addition, the hut is connected to the local drinking water network. The hut is open on all weekends and public holidays from May to October.
The hut serves as a starting point for ascents of the Hohe Hengstes ( 1450 m above sea level ) and the Krummbachsteins ( 1603 m above sea level ). The monastery coat of arms, at 2076 m above sea level. A. the highest point of the Schneeberg -stock can be reached in about two and a half hours.
