NOXON Entwicklungs GmbH (formerly TerraTec Electronic GmbH , meanwhile H & S Entwicklungsgesellschaft Nettetal GmbH ) was a German company that among other things developed the Noxon radios.
The headquarters of NOXON Entwicklungs GmbH was in Nettetal (North Rhine-Westphalia), where development, research, product management, sales and marketing also took place. The managing directors were Fabian Dietz and Bastian Mehls.
In the 2006/2007 financial year, the company achieved sales of 22.1 million euros with 60 employees, around two thirds of which came from sales in Germany.
NOXON was the market leader in the development of Internet radios.
history
Terratec Electronic GmbH was founded in 1994 by Walter Grieger and Heiko Meertz as a developer and marketer of sound cards for PCs and thus became a Europe-wide technology company for computer components such as TV, video and audio applications. At times the company was the largest German manufacturer of sound cards.
In the 2006/2007 financial year, the company achieved sales of 22.1 million euros with 60 employees, around two thirds of which came from sales in Germany.
The manufacture of external sound cards and audio systems for electronic sound generation, like video post-processing, were part of the company's core business. Two thirds of sales are generated in the area of satellite, cable and DVB-T reception.
TerraTec held a 100% stake in BeSonic AG, an online music service that Bertelsmann took over in 2003. Since 2007, taken over by the Düsseldorf software company BitVenture GmbH, the music portal has operated as Besonic GmbH & Co. KG.
The TerraTec Producer division, which dealt with professional audio systems (including sound cards for musicians and music studios) was taken over in November 2007 by Musonik GmbH in Düsseldorf. The former TerraTec producer employees Dirk Cervenka and Mario Michel are the managing directors and founders of Musonik GmbH.
TerraTec and the economic crisis
TerraTec struggled with slumped revenues in 2009. As a countermeasure, the company ordered short-time work and separated from its development department. According to the founder and then managing director Walter Grieger, the company successfully initiated a turnaround to a corporate structure that should work profitably without developing its own products.
Bankruptcy and realignment
On October 11, 2012 it became known that TerraTec Electronic GmbH , which had been renamed H & S Entwicklungsgesellschaft Nettetal GmbH a few days earlier, had filed for bankruptcy. Ultron AG took over the rights to the TerraTec brand in September 2013; the Noxon brand, on the other hand, remained with the H & S Entwicklungsgesellschaft Nettetal GmbH, which has meanwhile been renamed NOXON Entwicklungs GmbH, and will be continued by this.
In 2016, the two managing directors Fabian Dietz and Bastian Mehls were dismissed and TerraTec founder Walter Grieger was appointed the new managing director. In 2017, the trademark rights to the NOXON brand were sold to Palotec AG, based in Zofingen , Switzerland , which now publishes radios under the name. NOXON Entwicklungs GmbH was renamed NE Entwicklungs GmbH and is now a one-man company with the managing director as the only employee.
