The Terra Firma Islands (Latin-English for mainland islands ) are a small group of islands off the Fallières coast of West Antarctic Graham Land . They are located 13 km north of Cape Berteaux in Marguerite Bay .
Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934-1937), led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill, pitched a camp on the largest of the islands in 1936 after the sea ice broke up and named it Terra Firma Island (now known as Alamode Island ). This name was later transferred to the entire archipelago.
