Terrence Holder (* 1898 in Muskogee, Oklahoma ; death unknown) was an American jazz trumpeter who led the Dark Clouds of Joy and other Territory bands .

Live and act

Holder first performed in his hometown with Ida Cox before joining Alphonse Trent's band, where he was lead trumpeter and manager. He was considered a talented soloist with an open tone. He had to leave the band because he cheated the musicians out of part of the income. He then founded his own ensemble, the Dark Clouds of Joy , in 1925 , with which he performed successfully in and around Kansas City and Texas and made an important contribution to Kansas City jazz . In 1929 the band's musicians chose a new leader because Holder had disappeared with the till. He formed a new band with Jesse Stone , which was also active in the Midwest, but soon had to leave this band due to financial disagreements. Musicians such as Buddy Tate , Budd Johnson and Claude Williamson were active in later bands . In the 1940s he was part of the band of Nat Towles . Then he worked in a copper mine in Billings, Montana .
