Terry Strle

Terry Strle (* in Joliet , Illinois ) was Mayor of Fairbanks , Alaska from 2007 to 2010 .

Strle came to Alaska from Illinois in the early 1980s to study at the University of Alaska Fairbanks . In 1984 she completed her education with a Bachelor of Arts in Speech Science ( speech communication from). In November 2007, she narrowly won the mayor's runoff election against her rival Vivian Stiver and became the first woman to serve as mayor of Fairbanks since Ruth Burnett in 1982. In the 2010 election, Terry Strle was defeated by challenger and current Mayor Jerry Cleworth .
