Teucrium alpestre is a species of the genus Germander ( Teucrium ).

features

Teucrium alpestre is a subshrub that reaches heights of 10 to 20 centimeters. The stem is protruding short-shaggy. The branches are short and twisted. The edge of the sheet is at most slightly rolled up and has 3 to 5 notches on each side. The calyx is 2.5 to 5 millimeters in size and is sparsely covered with long hair along the main nerves and the sharp triangular calyx teeth. The crown is cream colored. The lateral lobes of the lower lip are spatulate and 2.5 times longer than wide.

The flowering period extends from May to August.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 78.

Occurrence

Teucrium alpestre is endemic to Crete. The species grows on limestone crevices, phrygana and clay surfaces at altitudes from 0 to 2200 meters.
